Delegation on Best Practice in E-Carsharing Concepts in Germany and France

Between September 21st and 28th 2014, the Sino-German Cooperation Project on Electro-Mobility and Climate Protection funded by the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety organised a study tour on “Best Practice in E-Carsharing Concepts in Germany and France”. Officials from research institutes under the Ministry of Science and Technology, researchers from universities and Chinese car sharing operators attended the tour, which took place in Berlin, Stuttgart and Paris.

In Germany and France, carsharing has been successful in integrating electric vehicles with sustainable urban mobility services and to reduce car ownership as well as vehicle kilometres travelled. The study tour was designed for local practitioners to gain knowledge on the functionality of car sharing, its benefits and the feasibility of e-carsharing systems.

The programme provided insights into e-carsharing from a political, scientific as well as corporate perspective, which will help to develop ideas for the implementation of e-carsharing systems in China.

This was the second carsharing delegation of the Sino-German project on Electro-Mobility and Climate Protection, following an earlier tour on “Best Practice on Carsharing Concepts in Germany and the Netherlands” in August 2013 with participants from the Ministry of Transport and other Chinese municipal and regional authorities.

The Sino-German Cooperation Project on Electro-Mobility and Climate Protection planned and conducted this study tour within the framework of its project component “Sustainable Mobility“, which is engaged in the integration of electric vehicles into Chinese sustainable urban transport systems. The project is funded through the International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB).
