China Low Carbon Leadership Network event on “Managing Black Carbon from Transport: Better Air, Better Climate!”

The China Low Carbon Leadership Network event, jointly organized by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and China Carbon Forum (CCF), discussed “Managing Black Carbon from Transport: Better Air, Better Climate!” on the evening of 5 June 2013 at the ‘Imperial Granary’ in Beijing. A panel of leading experts offered a range of views on the risks of soot in the atmosphere and how China and Europe can succeed in tackling black carbon emissions. The panellist included Dr. Axel Friedrich (former Head of Transport and Noise Division at German Federal Environmental Protection Agency), Mr. Tang Dagang (Vehicle Emission Control Center), Dr. Anup Bandivadekar (International Council for Clean Transportation, India), Prof. He Kebin (Tsinghua University), and Ms. Wang Liyan (Swiss Agency for Development & Cooperation).

The following panel discussion, moderated by Daniel Bongardt (Project Director at GIZ China) offered different perspectives and possible future options on tangling black carbon in China.

The China Low Carbon Leadership Network is an event series jointly organized by GIZ and CCF to facilitate communication among leading experts and key local and international stakeholders in China’s climate change sector. The events are supported under the German International Climate Initiative on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).
